Technically, since the appeal number is now simply 12 ap 562, I think we should change the URL to reflect that. I don't know much about technical things, though. I'll have to get some help with that.
One of the attorneys had requested the Court of Appeals to consolidate all three of the trial court cases, in order to bring them into one appeal.
The Clerk of the Court of Appeals has granted that request, so now there's only one case number, if you're looking at wicourts.gov. The appeal number is now simply 13 AP 562 by itself. You don't have to include those other numbers. We hope the website is starting to take shape. This is the first post on this blog. We will perhaps talk a little about what we perceive is the law involved. We're not attorneys, so it will just be a brief rundown of our opinion. Double Jeopardy
Double jeopardy is a term used in law. Double jeopardy is forbidden by the Constitution. Double jeopardy is what would happen is someone were to be charged with a crime and be found innocent, and then be charged with that crime a second time. For example, if you are charged with stealing a car, and a jury finds you innocent, you cannot be charged with stealing the car again. ~~~ From http://www.usconstitution.net/glossary.html#DOUBLEJ |
